Singapore Slalom Skiers

On 22-23 May, the Waterski & Wakeboard Federation of Singapore hosted the 2010 Slam Dunk Championships for slalom skiers.
Set at Bedok Reservoir, the event brought skiers from Singapore, New Zealand, France, UK, US, Malaysia and Indonesia. Spirits were high and the music was pumping as skiers headed into a two day, three round, friendly competition.
Slalom - by definition - is a water sport performed on one ski, with an athlete attempting to negotiate around the outside of six buoys in a zigzag course without falling or missing a buoy in a consecutive pass. Each successful buoy is awarded one point, and the athlete who completes the most buoys at the highest speed wins.
Over the weekend, expats, locals and regional champions supportively cheered for their fellow competitors, while still managing their toughest game face for the course. Drawing crowds of family, friends, photographers and a few Bedok Reservoir regulars, the event wrapped with a medal ceremony presented by event coordinator and waterski coach, Paul Fong.
Tournament sponsored by Radar Waterskis, MasterCraft Boats, music and beverages by REDBULL.
