On 26 June, riders, families and supporters descended onto the RDA arena to take part in the 5th National Disability League (NDL) Equestrian section hosted by Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA Singapore). Each year, the NDL and the Singapore Disability Sports Council organise competitive sporting events around the country in various disciplines.

15 young riders competed in eight dressage tests and one drill ride to music, with medals awarded by the RDA Honorary Treasurer, Paul Murphy, and Head Instructor, Rosemary Ratcliffe.

World-renowned polo player and the face of Polo Ralph Lauren Fragrances,
Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras, made his maiden voyage to Singapore to present a $10,000 cheque to the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) on behalf of Ralph Lauren Fragrances.

Argentinean born Figueras, nicknamed “Nacho”, was honoured with the opportunity to share his passion for riding during his visit, as well as do his bit for charity.

In addition to the donation, the polo player conducted a riding clinic for four skilled RDA riders; Max Tan, Gemma Foo, Marcus Lau and Wesley Tan.

Figueras said that riding instils confidence in disabled children and gives them more courage to face the world. According to the RDA, it also aids in blood circulation and improves sense of balance, thus playing a vital role in supplementing other treatments.

The Riding for the Disabled Association is the only organisation in Singapore to offer therapeutic riding lessons for the disabled. All maintenance and operation fees are raised via charity drives and donations.

Last week brought the official launch of the new MAGNUM Gold?! ice-cream in Singapore.  Though the scrumptious Madagascan vanilla, sea-salt caramel, and golden milk chocolate treat has been available in local stores for weeks, the heist-themed campaign party brought a new level of style and clout to this dangerously delicious dessert.

Set at the glamorous Waterboat House opposite Fullerton Hotel, the US$4.3-million global campaign arrived at our doorstep with glittering ice-cream, golden passports, and a mug shot photo shoot with superimposed actors Benicio Del Toro and Caroline de Souza Correa.  

The evening was led by gorgeous TV personality, Sonia Couling, and climaxed when guests were asked to break into the gigantic, frozen, gold safe ominously placed on centre stage. Fellow chocoholics cheered lucky winner, expat photographer Suasti Lye, as she broke the secret code and claimed her coveted year’s supply of MAGNUM Gold?!.
