Come May 29th 2010, Mark Philpott will run all 84 kilometers of the Adidas Sundown Ultramarathon, putting both his physical and mental strength to the test. His motivation throughout the 8 hour run: the welfare of children at the Aknuwat Primary School in Kampong Thom, Cambodia. Mark is the President of the Humaneity Foundation, an international non-profit charity which carries out sustainable development projects in the school, seeking to improve the impoverished lives of the children and their families there.
Such projects include building a Vegetable Garden, starting a micro-business project called Pins and Needles, initiating a Child Sponsorship Program, and solving drainage problems currently faced by the school. The money raised from the run will help make these projects 100% sustainable, and will also help provide every child with school essentials like books and stationery.
Do visit http://www.ammado.com/community/111993 to sponsor Mark in his ultramarathon. By giving, you will make a direct impact on the lives of approximately 1000 children between the ages of 4 to 12.
Thank you in advance for your generous donations. All are welcome to support Mark on the 29th of May, 6pm at the Changi Exhibition Centre (Aviation Park Road).
