The Kazbar

The Kazbar
Cuppage Terrace, Cuppage Road
+65 6836 5738

Tucked away a block up from Centrepoint on Orchard Road, the newly revamped Cuppage Terrace is a series of bars and restaurants with a great alfresco ambience. We tried the Kazbar, where Ramus the barman has a sense of humour, an unflappable temperament, and a head as smooth as a billiard ball. He also makes a delicious apple caipirinha.

The original Kazbar at Far East Square has been hugely popular for eight or nine years, so manager John Paul hasn’t had to reinvent the wheel here. It has a big, square bar that must be the envy of his neighbours (one is a Harry’s Bar), good Middle Eastern fare and, the piéce de resistance, a gorgeous belly-dancer who shakes her delectable torso at 9.30pm and 10.30pm from Thursdays to Saturdays.

The mainly Lebanese menu is designed for sharing. The substantial mix mezze platter ($18.00) showcases the talents of Syrian chef Kasem, most recently from the Intercontinental Dubai – crunchy falafel, fresh cheese borek, hummus whipped to creamy lightness, excellent babaganoush and pleasantly smoky moutabel. Other highlights included a perfect tabbouleh (parsley salad, $14.00), three premium lamb chops ($31.50) served with harissa (chilli paste), and authentic chicken and lamb kebabs ($17.00). The mousaka ($16.00) is a must, but do share it.

A great vibe, a friendly staff and yummy food makes this a good choice for a casual get-together.
