Safe as Houses

The Danovel children’s furniture showroom occupies only a tiny space in Tanglin Shopping Centre, but we all know that good things come in small packages.

This small store is chock full of Treehouse furniture, which has become hugely popular with parents around the world. Designed with safety in mind, it features non-toxic paint and soft, curved edges to prevent any nasty bumps and bruises.

Despite its popularity in countries like Australia and England, the brand actually originates from South Africa and it is from there that this retail outlet gets its products.

What the parents are saying …
“Conventional cots are kind of square-ish, but the Treehouse cot ($2,011) has rounded edges, and resembles a sleigh-bed, which is far more modern.

“We also bought the changing cabinet ($1,583.60), because it has a lot of storage space and is the perfect height for changing Ashton.

“While the pieces aren’t inexpensive, we were not willing to compromise on comfort; besides, the cot is good value because when Aston gets too big for it, we can turn it into a bench or a daybed simply by removing the sides.”

“We bought two bunk-bed sets a year ago, one for each of our younger children, Sawyer (3) and Joslyn (7). We also bought bookshelves, a desk, chairs and a toy chest.

“These are classy, versatile pieces, all hardwood materials painted white and priced accordingly. Clearly built to last, they helped us put together an attractive ensemble that was safe for the kids, durable, and big enough to grow with them.

“We felt justified spending the extra money for these beds in part because they are extremely well crafted, strong beds that can accommodate kids who want to use them as playhouses. They are painted white, too, which makes them flexible to deploy. We have complete confidence that they will be with us for the long term.

“Joslyn sleeps in the bottom bunk and plays with friends in the top bunk. It’s sturdy enough to accommodate several kids at once. It’s also a full-size twin bed, with a high quality mattress. When we have visitors, including Grandma, we have no reservations about offering her a bunk to sleep in.

“We’ve been extremely pleased with the beds and the level of personal service we have received. Everything was delivered in perfect condition and assembled at no additional charge. A year on, I can safely say this is one of our better buys.”
