Looking for a change from a bowl of cereal and the inevitable spilt milk this weekend? Turn around the family breakfast with some early opening venues that will get everyone out of bed and out of the house. If your kids are up before dark, let them follow the habit of Tolkien’s hobbits and have two breakfasts! And why not, with all the good food on offer at these places? Why we like it: Situated in a quiet park. Delicious house-roasted coffee. Grab a take-away and let the kids run on the grass by the Kallang River.
Where is it: 9 Raffles Boulevard, #01-01 Millenia Walk
When it opens: The Frühschoppen Brunch runs from 11.30am to 2.30pm
Why we like it: There’s a selection of different kids’ activities each week to keep the young ones entertained, from face painting to balloon sculpting.
CENTRAL – ROBERTSON QUAY
Where it is: 8 Rodyk Street, Robertson Quay
When it opens: 7am
Why we like it: Relaxed atmosphere by the river, excellent house-roasted coffee, kids can ride scooters and bikes outside and it opens early!

Why we like it: Room for the kids to let off steam after they’ve downed a babycino. Good coffee.
SINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDENS
Where it is: Botanic Gardens, Ginger Garden
When it opens: 10am
Why we like it: Beautiful leafy location in the Ginger Gardens, lots of room to move, and trees absorb sound, right? Kids’ menu.
Where it is: Botanic Gardens, Tanglin Gate
When it opens: 8am
Why we like it: Food with a conscience, great coffee and early opener!
Where it is: Botanic Gardens, Cluny Road Visitors Centre
When it opens: 7.30am
Why we like it: Easy, relaxed and lots of choices. Explore the Botanic Gardens when everyone is full!
